May 2021

The time is now to share what you love about Lyneham and North O’Connor in photos! Get your entries in by 9 May for your chance to win a great prize and celebrate all that’s good about where we live 🙂 Visit lyneham.org.au/photos for all the details.

You are invited to attend the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the LCA on Sunday 23 May at the Old Canberra Inn. It will start at 2pm.

The main function of the AGM is to hear reports of last year’s activities and to elect a new committee. We also want to have some fun! Feel free to just come along, meet your neighbours and have a drink. We will try to keep the formalities to a minimum.

If you’d like to find out more about helping the LCA or have ideas on how we can build an active, caring and resourceful community in Lyneham and north O’Connor, then please come along to the AGM and tell us what you think.

Nominations to be on the Committee are now open

There are 8 positions on the Committee:
–  Chair
–  Deputy Chair
–  Secretary
–  Treasurer
–  4 ordinary committee members.

Under the LCA constitution, any member of the LCA can nominate in writing for a position on the committee up to 7 days before the AGM.

If only one person nominates for a particular office-bearer position or up to 4 people nominate as ordinary committee members before the deadline then these people are automatically elected.

If insufficient nominations are received for any of the positions before the deadline then nominations can be made at the AGM.

If there is more than one nomination for particular office-bearer positions, or more nominations than the number of vacancies for ordinary committee members, then a ballot will be held at the AGM to elect these committee members.

You can nominate for a committee position simply by sending an email to contact@lyneham.org.au indicating the position you are interested in. Nominations require endorsement by two other LCA members, but you can expect that will be provided by two current committee members.

The deadline for receipt of emailed nominations is 2pm Sunday 16 May.

A reminder for those community groups and organisations who might be interested in seeking a Floriade grant for bulbs to “plant, nurture and enjoy”. Applications close 9 May. See floriadeaustralia.com

New Members

We love new members, and want even more!

So we’re asking you to encourage your friends and neighbours to join.

The more members we have, the more support we can provide each other and the more attention we can get from our local politicians.

Joining is free and open to everyone over 16 years of age, living in Lyneham or north O’Connor. Join online at lyneham.org.au/join.

You can always email us at contact@lyneham.org.au or go to our Facebook page.

We look forward to seeing you around the suburb some day soon!

Cheers
The LCA Committee
