Thanks to everyone who joined us for Clean Up Australia Day recently at North Lyneham. Five bags of rubbish and a few odd larger items were collected.
Join Walk Cycle Lyneham and Canberra by Bike for an extra special BikeBus and Ride to School event on Wednesday 19th March. Everyone is welcome, younger families, students from other schools and local families.

The LCA will again be offering a guided walk of the Lyneham and O’Connor Heritage Trail on 27 April, as part of the ACT Heritage Festival. Find out some of the history of the area from its colonial settlement days and the creation of the suburb as we know if from the 1960s.
The Trail was the result of a successful grant application and a lot of work by a previous LCA committee member a few years ago.
Registration for the walk is necessary (though free), as numbers are limited. See the event details for more information.
The AGM of the Lyneham Community Association will be held on Sunday 18 May 2025, at 2pm.
We’re just waiting for confirmation of the venue. More details later.
Please consider joining the committee. More information on what’s involved is available on our website, and by emailing us at contact@lyneham.org.au.
Save the date!
Another great Light Up Lyneham is being planned, including the fantastic Sunset Lantern Walk to the illuminated wetlands and return, led by the Canberra Prosperous Mountain Dragon and Lion Dance.
If you’re interested in being part of this year’s Light Up Lyneham as a performer, stall holder, installation artist, or volunteer, please complete the online form, or email contact@lyneham.org.au.
Brindabella Christian College
The date in the Supreme Court to hear BCC’s appeal against the ACAT order in 2023 to close its illegal carpark has been delayed with the appointment of administrators of the school. Originally set for 22 and 23 April 2025, the hearing won’t be held before july, and may be as late as November.
We understand the administrators are continuing with the appeal, though it’s unlikely they will still be operating the school by the time the appeal is heard.
The LCA has asked to meet with the administrators, and we understand the administrators intend to meet with us, though no date has been set yet.

Help regenerate our local parks
The Friends of Magpie Hill holds monthly working bees to regenerate this iconic local landmark. For more information and to be added to our mailing please email magpiehill@lyneham.org.au.
Our working bees are generally held on the morning of the last Sunday of each month. Anyone is welcome to join us and help in whatever way you can.
Grasses workshop
Instead of our monthly working bee on Sunday 23 March we will have our second grasses workshop with ecologist Jed Pearson. The focus will be on identifying the good native grasses and the invasive weed grasses such as African Love Grass and Chilean Needle Grass and the best techniques and times for weed removal. We will start at 9.30am and finish about 11am followed by a cuppa and discussion. All welcome, but let us know you are coming by emailing magpiehill@lyneham.org.au.
Lyneham Commons
Working Bees are held at Lyneham Commons on the first Sunday of the month. Tasks may include: weeding and clearing, planting some ground cover type plants, mulching paths, pruning wattles and other trees. For more information email lyneham.commons@gmail.com
Gazebo and table for loan
If you’re holding a social or community event and need a 3m x 3m portable gazebo or 2m long folding table, LCA now have them for short-term loan to members.
Just send an email to contact@lyneham.org.au with your dates a week or two in advance. There is no charge but a refundable bond of $50 will be required.
New members
We love new members, and want even more! Please encourage your local friends and neighbours to join. The more members we have, the more support we can provide each other and the more attention we can get from our politicians.
Joining is free and open to everyone over 16 years of age, living in Lyneham or north O’Connor (north of Macarthur Avenue). Join online at lyneham.org.au/join.
