Light Up Lyneham Report
Around 850 people braved the cold and windy evening for Light Up Lyneham. Thankfully the rain held off until pack up time, allowing for a wonderful event of live music, great stalls, and of course the featured Lantern Walk around the wetlands. Special thanks to our wonderful major sponsors: DIckson Tradies, Yowani Country Club, an North Canberra Community Council. We couldn’t do it without them. Thanks also to the great team of volunteers (over 50) who helped on the night, and to the small group of organisers who put it all together over the preceding months. |

Another Lyneham Community Event?
Events ACT has significant funding available for community events in 2022. We’re considering a summer, daytime community event, perhaps focussed on creative arts. Think sculpture-by-the-creek, a painting exhibition, a short film exposition. Let your imagination run. We need your ideas on what it should look like, and what would be incorporated. Applications close soon, so we have to get a move on. We can’t have a face-to-face brainstorm during lockdown, so please send your initial ideas to contact@lyneham.org.au. If the lockdown is lifted in time, we might organise a gathering to brainstorm together before the funding application is due. So even if you can’t think of something now, but are interested, drop us an email so we know who to include. |

Committee vacancy
We have a vacancy on the committee, and are looking for someone to fill it. Is that you? Are you ready to give something back to your local community? Then get in touch. We’re also looking for someone, perhaps with an interest in planning issues and the way the inner north is being developed, to be an LCA representative with the NCCC (North Canberra Community Council). Flick us an email if that might be you. |

Abandoned trolleys, and other issues
If you’re annoyed by finding an abandoned shopping trolley, you can easily report it, and it will be collected. You can report it directly to the shop. Coles and Woolies have online reporting (www.coles.com.au/customer-care/abandoned-trolleys and trolleytracker.com.au). Or you can report the trolley through Access Canberra’s Fix My Street: accesscanberra.act.gov.au/s/fix-my-street Fix My Street can also be used for reporting other issues of concern, like footpaths, potholes, damage to signes, traffic lights, graffiti, etc. See accesscanberra.act.gov.au/s/article/fix-my-street for the full list. |

Gazebo and table for loan If you’re holding a social or community event and need an 3mx3m portable gazebo or 2m long folding table, LCA now have them for short-term loan to members. Just contact us with your dates. To avoid disappointment it’s probably best to arrange a week or two in advance. There is no charge but a refundable bond will be required. |

And remember, every 25th new member until the end of August 2021 will receive a $25 voucher valid at one of the fantastic Lyneham businesses. |

We look forward to seeing you around the suburb some day soon!
