Nieghbourhood Watch

Neighbourhood Watch for Lyneham and O’Connor

Come along on Tuesday 20 Apr at 6pm at the National Hockey Centre, Lyneham to hear from ACT Neighbourhood Watch, and Police, about the steps you can take to prevent crime in your area. Learn what’s involved in forming a local Neighbourhood Watch group, and the benefits in having one.
Please register (free) at https://bit.ly/2Ow8cLQ to let us know you’re coming so we can meet our Covid responsibilities.

LCA will have a stall there on the day. Drop by and say hello. Ask us how you can get involved in our activities, or how LCA can support activities you’d like to run.

LCA Annual General Meeting

Save The Date

The Lyneham Community Association’s Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday 23 May 2021. Exact time (afternoon) and venue to be announced. Watch this space for further details. Please consider standing for the committee. Several of this year’s committee will not be standing again, so there’s opportunity (and need!) for new committee members. Here’s your opportunity to make a difference in your local community.   We’re also looking for a new LCA representative at the NCCC (North Canberra Community Council). If that sounds like something you might be interested in, please get in touch.

The Lyneham Community Association (LCA) is hoping to bring back Light Up Lyneham this year after last year’s covid pause. Last run in 2019, the event attracted an enthusiastic crowd of around 1,100 people.
All the favourite activities will be there: Lantern Walk, community stalls, and great live performances. With luck, there’ll be a few new surprises.
We’re looking for new people to join the friendly team of organisers. If you’re at all interested in helping organise and make this year’s Light Up Lyneham the best yet, please get in touch.
Working Bees: Keeping Your Volunteers Safe on the Day | Churches of Christ Insurance

        Working Bees

Join the Lyneham Commons group at their working bee on the first Sunday of each month. See their Facebook page for details. For other working bee opportunities, check the Banksia St Wetlands group Facebook page.

Gazebo and table for loan

If you’re holding a social or community event and need an 3mx3m portable gazebo or 2m long folding table, LCA now have them for short-term loan to members. Just contact us with your dates. To avoid disappointment it’s probably best to arrange a week or two in advance. There is no charge but a refundable bond will be required.
New Members We love new members, and want even more! So we’re asking you to encourage your friends and neighbours to join. The more members we have, the more support we can provide each other and the more attention we can get from our local politicians. Joining is free and open to everyone over 16 years of age, living in Lyneham or north O’Connor. Join online at lyneham.org.au/join.
You can always email us at contact@lyneham.org.au or go to our Facebook page. We look forward to seeing you around the suburb some day soon! Cheers The LCA Committee
