At the recent AGM I was elected the new Chair of the LCA. On behalf of the committee I would like to thank our previous Chair Karlene Dickens for her great contribution to the committee over the last three years. It is time for her to have a break but I am glad she is continuing as an ordinary committee member. I would also like to thank retiring member Therese Dupe. We have three new energetic people on the committee and I look forward to their contributions. Further details on the Committee are below, as well as reports on the many activities of the LCA.

Lyneham Election Forum

The election forum on 30 August was ably conducted by Lish Fejer of ABC Local Radio Breakfast.

Talks from each of the three major parties were followed by lively questions from the audience. Conversation continued over afternoon tea.

Candidates were sent the LCA's Election Priorities statement prior to the event, in the hope they would address some of the local concerns. We invite your comments on the statement.

   Magpie Hill Rejuvenation Project   

Work is steadily progressing on finalising the landscape plan and the documents required to register our parkcare group 'Friends of Magpie Hill' with the ACT Government Urban Parks and Places. More details will be sent to our Friends email list shortly, particularly asking about what initial activities the group would like to do.
We are looking for a few people to take on the role of coordinating the activities of the group. If you are interested please email magpiehill@lyneham.org.au. 

LCA AGM

The LCA AGM was held following the local election forum, and resulted in the following committee:

ACT Heritage Grant

We are delighted to receive a grant of $26,178 from the ACT Heritage Grants Program for a "Lyneham and North O'Connor Heritage Trail".

The project will commission an historian to produce a short history of the local area, commission an artist to produce an isometric map of the local heritage, and for the production and installation of heritage signs at a few significant locations.

Sullivan's Creek Micro-Forest

The Molonglo Conservation Group is looking for volunteers to help with work on the area of land at the corner of Wattle and Goodwin Sts.

Lyneham Commons Working Bee

Lyneham Commons is a community-run food forest located between the Lyneham shops and the Sullivan’s Creek bike path. Their next monthly working bee is on Sunday 4 October. Come for a couple of hours of easy gardening. Socialise with local gardeners, learn about the food forest and take away some skills to use at home. More details are available on their Facebook page.
